Wakulla High School guitar students had a special treat last week when Matthew Sabatella and The Rambling String Band performed for Guitar 2, 3, and 4 Honors classes. The interactive performance was made possible through sponsorship by the Florida Folklife Program and came at no cost to the school.
The Rambling String Band, known for their energetic performances of American folk and traditional music, engaged students with classic tunes such as Woody Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land” and selections from the old-time repertoire. Beyond performance, the band collaborated with students on playing a 12-Bar Blues progression and the traditional fiddle tune “Soldier’s Joy,” giving them hands-on experience with authentic roots music.
The visit was part of the Florida Folklife Program’s mission to preserve and share the state’s diverse cultural traditions.
