SOAR

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three-tiered framework to improve and integrate all the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. PBIS is meant to create a school where all students succeed. Through behavioral interventions and support, it allows all students to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. 

• A team-based process including a broad range of systems and practices for achieving important social and learning outcomes. 

• A proactive approach to teach, monitor, and support appropriate school behavior for ALL Wakulla High School students.  

• A focus on preventing problem behavior of all students at the school-wide, classroom, non-classroom, and individual levels.  

• A set of school-wide positive expectations and behaviors which are explicitly defined and taught. 

• Procedures for establishing classroom expectations and routines that are consistent with school-wide expectations. 

• Procedures for encouraging expected behaviors. 

• Procedures for discouraging problem behaviors. 

• Procedures for encouraging school-home partnerships. 

Wakulla High School War Eagles must be held to high standards of behavior. As one part of the PBIS Core practices, Wakulla High School has developed a set of positive school-wide expectations via a behaviors matrix with the acronym SOAR. The standards established by SOAR provide a clear outline of conduct for our War Eagles. When expectations are explicit and routine, uncertainty in behavior is minimized. 

Additionally, a reward system will be used to acknowledge when students engage in expected behavior. By providing students with positive and predictable reinforcements, the PBIS program seeks to maximize academic engagement to enhance student achievement and minimize undesirable behaviors which can hinder our school climate. The PBIS program at Wakulla High School is meant to promote and acknowledge proper conduct. Violations may result in one or more areas; however, in such cases, involvement outside of the PBIS program may be required of our Discipline department. The Wakulla High School Student Handbook offers guidance in student code of conduct.  

Our goal is for each Wakulla High War Eagle to be successful, optimistic, accountable, and respectful in the classroom, on campus, and in our community. 

Home and school have a shared responsibility to help our students grow into good citizens. Parents, teachers, and students must work together to maintain positive learning environments. 

To support Wakulla High School’s PBIS program at home, families can: 

• Review and discuss the SOAR matrix of expectations with your child(ren). 

• Review and discuss the Wakulla High School Student Handbook with your child(ren) 

• Stay connected with your student(s) teachers and grades on FOCUS. 

• Encourage school pride in being a Wakulla War Eagle!
